Our OBs
All of our OBs are certified specialists and fellows of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) and hold academic appointments at the University of British Columbia.
DR. MICHELLE BELANGER
Originally from Ottawa, Dr. Belanger graduated from the University of Ottawa medical school in 1995. She completed her OB/GYN residency at UBC in 2000 and did locum work in various BC communities before joining the staff at BC Women’s in 2003. She practises general OB/GYN and offers services in English and French.

DR. DENA BLOOMENTHAL
Dr. Bloomenthal completed a fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine and enjoys high risk obstetrics, with a focus on multiples.

Dr. Branco is from Edmonton, Alberta and graduated from the University of Alberta medical school. She completed her OB/GYN residency at UBC, and pursued additional training in family planning. She practises general OB/GYN. and has been in the group since 2014.

DR. KaMMIE CHOW
Dr. Kammie Chow completed her medical degree at McGill University. She continued eastward and completed her residency training at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Dr. Chow joined us in 2025, having relocated from Newmarket, Ontario. Dr Chow speaks English, French and Cantonese.

DR. BRIGID DINELEY
Dr. Dineley attended McMaster University for her OB/GYN residency. She then completed a family planning fellowship and obtained a Masters of Health Science from UBC in 2019. In addition to practicing low and high-risk obstetrics at BCWH, she also works at the early pregnancy assessment clinic (EPAC).

DR. CHELSEA ELWOOD
Dr. Elwood is from Nanaimo, BC. She completed graduate studies in London, at the University of Western Ontario, where she worked as a microbiologist. She then attended UBC for medical school and her OB/GYN residency. She completed a fellowship and now specializes in infectious diseases in women’s reproductive health, and is actively engaged in related research activities. She leads the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at BC Women’s. She has a general OB/GYN practice and has been on staff at BC Women’s since 2018.

Dr. Mucsi completed her MSc in Immunology at the University of Calgary before completing her MD at the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. This was followed by a residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at McMaster University and a fellowship in Family Planning at UBC.

Dr. Rosengarten graduated from medical school in Johannesburg ‘a long time ago’. He immigrated to Canada in 1998 and worked as a rural family doctor in northern Manitoba for 3 years. He completed his residency in OB/GYN at UBC in 1995, and has been on staff at BC Women’s since then.

DR. JULIE VAN SCHALKWYK
Dr. van Schalkwyk competed graduate studies in Microbiology and Immunology in Ottawa in 1995. She attended medical school at Dalhousie University in Halifax prior to completing her OB/GYN residency at UBC in 2004. She pursued additional training in infectious diseases at UBC and has been on staff at BC Women’s since 2005 and provides specialized care for women with reproductive infectious diseases, in addition to maintaining a general OB/GYN practice. She is the current head of the Department of OB/GYN at BC Women’s.

DR. SHEILA WITH
Dr. With is a graduate of the UBC medical school and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at UBC. Prior to entering medicine, she completed a B.Sc. Honours in Cell and Developmental Biology at UBC and an M.Sc. in Medical Genetics at the University of Toronto. She has been in clinical practice since 2014.
Dr. With has a full scope OB/GYN clinical practice with a special interest in complex contraception and family planning. She enjoys managing both high and low risk pregnancy and shares her obstetrical practice with Ashley Musci.

Dr. Wong is originally from Toronto, where he completed his medical degree at the University of Toronto. He then moved to Vancouver to complete his Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency and Reproductive Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the University of British Columbia. He joined the group in 2024 and offers general OB/GYN care and specialized reproductive infectious diseases consultations. Dr. Wong is proud to offer his services in Cantonese.
